The NICTN and Belfast ECMC portfolio of clinical trials and other studies of high quality design is dynamic, thus we recommend that everyone considering taking part in a clinical trial discusses this with their own oncologist/haematologist to confirm availability and suitability of studies. All studies have specific inclusion/exclusion criteria to maximise the suitability and safety of the individuals taking part.
Sometimes potential study participants are referred to a new hospital / medical team to access a clinical trial. The Belfast ECMC Early Phase Trials team is located solely in the NI Cancer Centre. Oncologists/Haematologists can also access information in the Early Cancer Trial Finder.
The NICTN and Belfast ECMC team are here to ensure that, where suitable trials are available in Northern Ireland, individuals are offered the opportunity to consider participation.
When an individual consents to take part in a trial there is a period of ‘screening’ to further confirm suitability and safety. Once on the study the team will support individuals throughout the study.
