Massive congratulations to the ‘ADVOCATE’ team from NICTN and Northern Ireland Cancer Centre (NICC) winning Best Collaboration between Clinic, Academia and Industry category AND Overall Winner at the NI Health Care Awards in Stormont Hotel 10 October 2024!
Through a dedicated FAST clinic and innovative clinical trials, over 100 patients with prostate cancer have accessed advanced image-guided radiotherapy, significantly reducing the traditional treatment protocol from 39 sessions to just 5 sessions using Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR).
Stacey Conway (Lead Clinical Research Radiographer, NI Cancer Trials Network), Grace Totten (Clinical Research Radiographer, NI Cancer Trials Network) and Sarah-Jane Flynn (Urology site Specialist Radiographer, NI Cancer Centre) were there to pick up the award.
The award acknowledges the brilliant team work and expertise of all involved – the Consultant Clinical Oncologists, NI Cancer Trial Network-Clinical Research Radiographers, Brachytherapy Radiographers, Treatment Radiographers, Specialist Radiographers, Physicists, Clinical Research Fellows and Treatment Planning Technicians. Well done everyone – so well deserved!!
